Car manufacturers use wind tunnels to test aerodynamics under extreme pressure. Holochain uses one to stress-test the network.
Wind Tunnel runs test scenarios across clusters of Holochain conductors on many machines at once and collects the metrics, so development teams can see how the network behaves at scale and find the problems that only appear there.
Run this software and your EdgeNode becomes a Wind Tunnel Runner in the Holochain Foundation’s cluster — a machine that real test scenarios execute on.
Before you start
- A Linux machine with the EdgeNode tooling already installed
- A dedicated machine — the software needs extensive system permissions, so don’t run it alongside your own Moss group data
- 10GB disk, 8GB RAM, an internet connection
What the guide covers
- Prepare the machine and stop any existing EdgeNode container
- Pull and run the Wind Tunnel Runner in Docker
- Verify the node has joined the cluster
- Stop testing and return the node to normal operation
