Holo's Approach to Pricing, Payments and Currency

Holo’s approach to pricing, payments, and currency reflects our commitment to creating a fair and efficient distributed hosting ecosystem. While implementing HoloFuel remains our goal, we’ve adopted a short-term plan to ensure seamless operations for customers and hosts alike accepting HOT and other national currencies as payment for hosting services.

Pricing and Payments with HOT and National Currencies

Holo will accept payments for hosting services primarily in HoloToken (HOT), with additional support for national currencies such as USD and EUR. This approach allows us to leverage the prepaid hosting credits from our 2018 ICO while we work toward a fully integrated HoloFuel-based payment system.

Key Details:

  • Simplified Pricing: Customer pricing will be aggregated and simplified, ensuring straightforward payment processes.
  • No Micro-Payments Yet: Until we implement HoloFuel as the internal accounting system, micro-payments, and direct peer payments between customers and hosts will not be supported.
  • Host Price and Payment Options: HoloPort owners will have options to provide hosting services to various customers and projects based on their hardware’s capacity. Hosts will receive compensation based on their selected plans and actual delivery of services to customers.
  • Claims-Based Payouts: We are currently working with hosts to determine the best payment options. In the interim, host payments may be handled via a claims process using HOT.

This interim plan ensures the network operates effectively while laying the groundwork for HoloFuel’s full integration.

What is HoloFuel?

  • HoloFuel will be the internal micro-payment system that powers peer payments in Holo.
  • HoloFuel’s primary use is for customers to pay HoloPort owners for hosting services.
  • HoloFuel is a simultaneously a unit of account and a mutual-credit accounting system.

What is HOT?

  • HoloToken (HOT) is Holo’s ERC-20 token that represents pre-payments for cloud hosting.
  • HOT can be used to pay for hosting services on Holo’s cloud network.
  • HOT will be convertible to HoloFuel when HoloFuel is implemented as the micro-payment system in Holo’s network.

HoloFuel – The Future of Hosting Payments

HoloFuel is the mutual-credit cryptocurrency designed to power the Holo ecosystem, enabling efficient, transparent, and scalable transactions between hosts and users.

How HoloFuel Will Work:

  • Unit of Account: HoloFuel will serve as the internal accounting system for pricing, payments, and resource allocation.
  • Direct Peer Payments: Customers will pay hosts directly, and micro-payments will be fully supported for granular, usage-based settlement.
  • Dynamic Host-Based Pricing: Hosts will set their own rates based on demand and capacity, creating a decentralized marketplace for hosting services.
  • Sustainability and Scalability: Designed to handle the high-volume micro-transactions needed in the hosting economy.

Future HOT-to-HoloFuel Transition:

Once HoloFuel is fully implemented as Holo's P2P payment system within the Holo network, HoloToken (HOT) holders will have the opportunity to swap their tokens for HoloFuel at a 1:1 ratio for at least six (6) months, ensuring continuity for early supporters of the ecosystem.
