Migrating Humm hApp from Legacy to Production
The Humm hApp has successfully migrated and is now running on the new Holo Allograph network. During this transition we've encountered and worked through a couple of key challenges, such as a 403 error that occurs when multiple Web Bridge instances from the same machine try to access Holochain, and an internal server threshold issue when accessing certain payloads.
Holo Public API Update
We can now run hApps using containers on HoloPorts in a test environment. This week, our main focus has been on end-to-end testing of new workload deployments using the API. We're also gearing up to demonstrate this at an upcoming Volla community event in mid-June. We're adopting an "API-first" approach for all future feature development, which will provide the foundation needed for more interoperability and composability with a diverse array of customer platforms and workflows. Functionality like workload deletion and others, will be rolled out incrementally.
Cloud Console UI Refresh
Development on the Cloud Console UI has been temporarily paused up until the end of next week. The API and Orchestrator enhancements have been prioritized as these are critical for enabling our community and customers to quickly deploy workloads. In the meantime, our support team will manage customer API keys directly, with a self-service solution planned for future release.
Static Site Hosting Discovery
The static site hosting epic is currently in a technical discovery phase. While there are no new updates, this feature is a critical milestone for expanding our hosting capabilities to include general web hosting, that is, opening up the Holo network to more than Holochain application hosting.
Other Key Initiatives
We're also working on several other improvements:
- The API Schema is being overhauled to make payload instructions more abstract and intuitive for users.
- API Documentation is being updated with new endpoints to provide comprehensive guidance.
- We're developing an easy-to-use blob store to simplify the management of customer files such as hApp_binary during deployment.
- Efforts are underway to consolidate multiple database instances to reduce costs and improve overall efficiency.
