Migration to the next generation Holo network (new name coming soon) is officially underway!
Development milestone achieved: New hosting agent running on a HoloPort+ from inside the legacy HPOS.
The hosting agent is the new service that will handle:
- Receiving and running hosting workloads on the HoloPort
- Reporting back to Holo for enhanced network coordination and management
- Receiving validated updates to the system and related services
- Receiving validated updates to the system and related services
- Receiving validated updates to the system and related services
Development Milestone: A Major Step Toward Update Reliability
We’ve made a significant improvement to how updates are handled on HoloPorts. Instead of attempting to switch to the updated system during runtime, we’ve enforced a reboot into the updated system to ensure smoother, more reliable updates.
The previous update process, which executed only from the legacy system, has had its challenges. At times, HoloPorts could fail to persist updates properly after a restart or struggle to launch new system services. This enhancement marks an important step toward ensuring a more dependable update experience.
Next Steps: Network Migration Planning
As we continue progressing toward the new Holo network, our focus is shifting to advancing migration efforts. Currently, HoloPorts are being transitioned to Stage 1 of the migration. In Stage 2, we’ll introduce improved update functionality and expand the hosting agent’s capabilities. These enhancements will enable HoloPorts to report back critical information—like inventory and status—to our central orchestration service, further solidifying their role as key nodes in the new network.
This milestone is just one of many as we prepare for the next generation of hosting on Holo. Stay tuned for more updates!
